Current activities include ongoing regular meetings with community representatives (Technical Advisory Group or TAG), public meetings, and periodic newsletters. Varian is committed to keeping the local community informed about cleanup progress at the site.
Public Comment Period
The Revised Phase III Remedial Action Plan, Public Comment Draft and the Phase IV Remedial Implementation Plan, Part 1, are available for public comment June 8 – June 27, 2023:

Please note that the Beverly Public Library has limited space to hold documents long-term. All documents related to site decisions are submitted to the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) and are available on their website. Please let us know your thoughts on continuing to make hard copies available at the library

Technical Advisory Group (TAG)
The TAG consists of specific stakeholders from the local community, including the Mayor of Beverly, state elected officials, and representatives of the community group Voices of Concern (VOC) North Beverly. The TAG meets with representatives of the Varian technical team regularly. Click on the meeting date for copies of TAG presentations:
Public Meetings
Public meetings will be held periodically and as required by the Massachusetts Contingency Plan (MCP) process. Copies of presentations, posters, and/or other meeting materials can be found under each meeting date.
A Revised Phase III Remedial Action Plan (available HERE) and a Phase IV Remedy Implementation Plan, Part 1 (available HERE) were submitted to MassDEP on 3/17/23. The Revised Phase III Remedial Action Plan presents the revised evaluation of cleanup methods and recommended cleanup approaches. The Phase IV Remedy Implementation Plan, Part 1, presents the plans for implementing selected cleanup alternatives (thermal treatment for the Building 3 area, the Tozer Road groundwater barrier, and the seep barrier at Stream A.)
Public Meeting (on Revised Phase III and Phase IV, Part 1)
June 7, 2023, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Beverly High School Auditorium (100 Sohier Road)
- 6:30 pm – informal open house with opportunity to view posters and talk one-on-one with representatives of the project team
- 7:00 pm – presentation followed by a question period
